The PILI`Āina Project

Join the 2026 PILI ʻĀina Garden Box Study!

The University of Hawaiʻi invites Native Hawaiian families to take part in a 9-month program focused on healthy living, gardening, and cooking. Participants will receive a home garden box, hands-on lessons with Aunty Tammy Smith, and family activities promoting wellness.

Help us explore how home gardening can improve health while enjoying fun, cultural, and family-centered activities.

Class dates include:

February: 3, 10, 17, 24

March: 10, 24

April: 7, 21

This study is open to Native Hawaiian families and is offered FREE through the University of Hawaiʻi. Assessments will take place from February 2026 through February 2027.
